Road to Stress Release Tip #11: Controlled Environment

When the news makes you anxious, turn the TV off. When traffic has got you tense try to take a longer but less-traveled route. When going to the market is an unpleasant chore try do your grocery shopping online. Just determine what stresses you and try your own solutions to avoid those stressful situations. The instant you realize that you are in charge of your environment, you can then make any necessary changes to ease any stress coming from your surroundings. Even better you can alter the way you see the environment that you are in. Sometimes that may require leaving to another area for a brief moment just to gather yourself together and take a different approach once you enter back into the environment. When the surrounding environment (people or situations) do not change, you may then have to excuse yourself and leave that environment altogether to prevent further stress. If this is not an option, then the greatest action you can take for yourself is just to simply accept the environment as it is, do your part to bring calm and don’t worry about what other people say.
